While waiting my turn on stage, I mentally rehearsed my material and oddly enough wasn’t nervous. But as soon as it was my turn and I was on stage, I completely forgot everything I practiced and planned to say. I stood there in front of about thirty people for what seemed like hours with nothing to say. Before I knew it, I just blurted out what I had been thinking, “Damn, I forgot everything I was going to say.” The unbelievable thing is, it got a huge laugh, and this must have sparked my memory because I then remembered my two minute’s worth of material and ended up getting more laughs. When I left the stage, I couldn’t wait to get back on stage. I loved how performing that night made me feel alive. I found the answer to the question I wasn’t asked, “What are you going to do take control of your life and make it more enjoyable?” … stand-up comedy.
